Gloria Hansberry
First Grade - Mrs. Gloria Hansberry
Education: B.A. in Elementary Education, Concordia University, River Forest, IL.
Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy is based on a Chinese proverb: "I hear, and I forget. I see, and I remember. I do and I understand." I am basically a "hands-on" teacher. Students are directly involved with materials that reinforce academic skills. Cooperative groups are used, and lesson plans strive to meet the individual needs of each student. My classroom is always open to parents, and they are invited to attend events such as the St. Patrick's Day Green Feast, candy making, and all the masses. I believe that religion is the most important part of our curriculum. Daily prayer, Bible stories, and opportunities to serve others are some of the methods used to help students grow in their relationship with God. The Catholic faith is taught and modeled.
