Academics

St. Bernardine School prides itself in offering strong academics for children from three years old (full or half day) through eighth grade. Our program enriches students and prepares them for highschool and beyond. St. Bernardine graduates are regularly accepted into highschools of their choice, where they excel.

Successful Students

The class of 2011 is proud to have students at several top highschools this year, including the Chicago Academy of the Arts, St. Ignatius College Preparatory, Trinity, Nazareth Academy, and more. Read more about them and about four featured alumni in our Spring Newsletter.

Rowland Reading

St. Bernardine School uses the renowned Rowland Reading program for junior kindergarten through second grade. This program features the Superkids, which teachers, students, and parents love!

"The Superkids is a WONDERFUL reading program! It contains all the key elements for a really strong language arts curriculum. The children are excited about the program. They love the Superkids characters. They make learning the skills fun. We have used the Superkids program the past two years. By the end of each year all of my students were reading." (Vicki Kirchen, St. Bernardine Kindergarten Teacher)

Last year, St. Bernardine School's use of the Superkids program was featured in a Forest Park Review article.

Rosetta Stone Language Program

The 2011-2012 school year brings the well known Rosetta Stone Language Program to St. Bernardine School. Parents can choose the language their child learns, and students can work at their own pace, both in school and at home, using individual logins. Progress is tracked by the program so teachers can stay on top of how each student is doing.
