St. Bernardine School
Physical Education Program
The main goal of
the P.E. Program is to assist students in reaching their maximum potential that
is possible. Each student will meet some measure of success in his or her own
activity and activities with his classmates. Students will learn and practice
skills as well as learn the fundamentals of games.
The following example of floor hockey will give you an idea
of how the students begin learning basic skills, build on those skills, and
master understanding the game.
Younger Students: Learn how to hold a
floor hockey stick and move a puck back and forth (stick handling).
Primary Students: Learn how to pass a puck and shoot at a goal.
Intermediate Students: Learn how to play the game with positions using offense
and defense.
Junior High Students: play the game using all the fundamentals and add strategy
that they create as a team.
Tips on helping Your Child Have a Successful P.E. Experience
Eat breakfast
Drink water 24-7
Wear gym shoes that stay tied and fit well (zipper shoes always come unzipped)
Follow the handbook for P.E. Uniform Code. (Please don't over dress. Multiple shirts are not necessary, the building runs warm and exercise raises the body temperature.)
